We believe all types of families deserve support that considers the unique challenges they may face. We do see color, gender, and sexuality and we celebrate what makes your family yours. As a group we know that there are breaks in the system that allow for and accept the mistreatment of different demographics of people. Black maternal and fetal mortality rates are higher than those of their white peers. Trans individuals face difficulties and biases that aren’t even well-studied at this point. Each and every day we are advocating, educating ourselves on how to best support your families, lobby in Annapolis, and are more than willing to refer you to someone who may be a better fit if we don’t have a fit on our team. Your care and comfort are far more important to us than anything else.
Agency Model
Unique to us, DOB is an agency model. While the term “agency” can feel loaded, we like to think of it like this:
