Our one-day, five-hour childbirth education workshop is designed for those families who may prefer or be limited to the timing of a condensed class. Birth Basics includes relevant, evidence-based and up to date information regarding the anatomy and physiology of labor, medical interventions, options and policies to expect at our Baltimore area hospitals, decision making strategies and preparation for the postpartum period. This workshop is a long-time favorite for Baltimore families!

Our Baltimore in-person classes are held in our office space at The Cedarcroft Center, just south of Towson, close to Belvedere Square.

I recently attend the Birth Basics class from Doulas of Baltimore. It was definitely worth the investment and helped us feel much more prepared for our labor and delivery. The information about the birth process and comfort measure techniques especially was extremely helpful. This is a great class for expecting parents who like to know all of the options ahead of time in order to make betters decisions for their family in the moment.
They gave us valuable resources to draw from during our birth experience and gave us a ton of context during prenatal appointments, doctor’s visits, and our hospital stay (not to mention our baby’s first months of life!). The small group setting made it a great place to get one-on-one help, questions answered, and to focus on baby!
For people who rarely have a weekend free, this condensed course was perfect for helping both my husband and I really understand what the labor day will look like. I felt so much less anxiety after understanding that all of my options have pros and cons. And my husband left feeling energized about how he could help once labor started. Would highly recommend this class to anyone who is short on time and just needs a bit of a confidence boost before birth. Plus, really loved the engagement between families and the open discussion Shana encouraged us to have.
